Earth Healing

Have you ever been somewhere on land or in a dwelling and suddenly you felt off, or that something wasn’t quite right? Young children, cats, dogs and horses also feel these things and often are the first to notice it. There are a number of reasons why a place itself may feel disturbed, unsettled or out of balance.

This understanding of place as something that can be felt, cared for and brought back into balance is not new. Many traditional and Indigenous cultures have a long tradition of caring for the land and country in many ways, including doing ceremonies in specific places at specific times to carry on their traditions and keep positive energy flowing across the Earth.

This idea of energy flowing through place is described in different ways in different cultures, with names such as ley lines, songlines, dragon lines and others.

In places where traditional ceremonies and practices have been interrupted or no longer continue, the energy of the land may become stagnant or unsettled, affecting the place in a negative way. This can be felt even more strongly in places where there has been loss of life, battle, genocide or some other form of tragedy, where heavy or disturbed energy may remain connected to the place where it happened.

Many traditional and Indigenous cultures have ways of clearing these energies, including practices to help disembodied spirits move on to their next level of existence. However, if people are no longer living on their land, or if this knowledge has not been handed down, the energy may remain stuck there until it is cleared or moves on.

This can also happen when a person dies in a house, or when there has been trauma, tragedy or suicide on a property. In these cases, the spirit, or part of a person’s energy, may remain connected to the place until it is cleared.

A home, its occupants and pets can also be affected by naturally occurring or environmental factors, including negative ley lines, geopathic stress from earthworks, stagnant underground water, electrical energies, EMF, and living on land where a significant tree once stood.

Real estate agents I have spoken with have said they can often feel when there is negative energy in a house. This can affect how a property feels to potential buyers, and may also influence the type of tenants it attracts.
